Hooray for the Transnational!
Call for the Transnational Anthem Grand Prix

The first Transnational Republic is one year old and yet it hasn’t got an anthem! Therefore we call upon you to participate in the public anthem competition.

An anthem, usually elevated the status of national symbol by state decree, represents the national sovereignty of a country just as the flag and the coat of arms

In the case of the TR it cannot be a national symbol but nevertheless a representative one. It can be used by the state as a means of political self-portrayal. It can serve the purpose of political education as much as of ideological manipulation.

Indeed the anthem should be manipulative as it is meant as a personal reinsurance. It is the pride of the citiizens of the TR.

Approximatly 25% of all anthems came into being through public competitions due to the wish of the state to let the people take part in the creation of this symbol of state.

The TR wants to be in line with this tradition. Its citizens should vote on the proposals for an anthem.

Anthems often create a sense of familiarity. The anthem of the TR should achieve the same. Whether it will be apt to create a feeling of dignity and elevation seems less important. Yet it should try to have a critical look at the existing genre.

You enter notes, concepts – with minor restrictions: the anthem has to be perfomable in singing and should last between 2 and 5 minutes. Each entry has to be realisable, at least in a shortened version.

The vote on which anthem is going to be the „Transnational“ will be decided by the citizens of the TR via internet

The competition will commence on the 13th July. Closing date is the 31st December. The anthems entered will be performed early next year. Streams of these performances will be placed on the internet to be voted on by the citizens. The performance of the winning anthem will take place on the anniversary of the TR, the 16th April 2003 and finally the TR will have an anthem!

For the composer of the new anthem there will be a small reward alongside the great honour.

The anthem will be recored and published as a record with a minimum edition of 500.

The judges decision is final and not subject to legal action.
